Disable autoplay first in Family Center — your child cannot turn it back on. Then park one long Pip sit.

Disable Autoplay First

The story ends. The room should get quiet. Instead the next clip starts on its own, and the afternoon slides into a chain you never named out loud.

You do not need a perfect fortress for that. You need one parent switch that sticks: Disable autoplay in Family Center. When that setting is on, your child cannot turn Autoplay back on. Then shrink the browse with search off or Approved Content Only, and park one long HoloÁnima sit worth finishing.

Flip Disable autoplay in Family Center

This is a parent setting, not a kid toggle. Sign in to YouTube with your linked parent account. Open your profile picture, then Settings, then Family Center. Select your child’s profile or account. Switch Disable autoplay on.

Google’s Help Center is clear on the point that matters at the couch: when Disable autoplay is on, your child cannot turn Autoplay back on. Only you can reverse it later from the same Family Center path.

Do it once before you hand over the tablet. Say the plan out loud: one title, then the device goes down. Autoplay will not keep choosing for you.

Menus move a little by device and country. If a label looks different, hunt for Disable autoplay under Family Center for that child’s profile — not for a secret Shorts Off switch that was never built for YouTube Kids.

Pair it with search off or Approved Content Only

Disable autoplay stops the next-hit yank. It does not shrink the whole shelf by itself. Pair it with the Kids tools that already exist.

Search off is the lighter step. Without search, kids cannot type their way into a new rabbit hole. Recommendations still need your eye, so block what keeps popping up and clear history when the feed feels sticky.

Approved Content Only (approve content yourself) is the stronger calm wall. The app becomes a shelf: only videos and channels you approved. Search turns off with that mode. Approve your locale HoloÁnima channel — English @HoloAnimaEN, Spanish @HoloAnima, Romanian @HoloAnimaRO — plus any other channels you already trust. Preview if the app offers it. Save. Done.

You can start with search off for a week, then graduate to the wall. Either way, disable autoplay first so a finished story stays finished.

What this is not — Shorts still won’t “turn off” on Kids

Parents often mix two hopes. One hope is stopping the next clip after a long watch. Disable autoplay helps there. The other hope is installing a teen Shorts feed limit inside YouTube Kids. That tool lives on supervised YouTube / Family Center Time management for older kids — not as the same switch inside the Kids app.

We already walked that split in Teen Shorts Limit Exists — Not on YouTube Kids. Use that post when you need the Shorts / Kids product map. This post is the quieter sibling: flip the autoplay lock you do have, then choose one long sit on purpose.

We will not invent a Kids Shorts Off toggle or scare you into a paid product. Calm is the settings that exist, used on purpose.

Park one long sit

HoloÁnima long watches are story sits: meadow friends, try-fail-wow, human-written arcs with AI-assisted animation — the same honest line as our earlier posts. A kids compilation gives a finish line instead of a blur of half-watched clips.

For short peeks between longer watches, we’re on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X as HoloAnima — trailers, not the whole loop.

The calm ask

Disable autoplay first — Family Center, parent account, kid cannot turn it back on. Pair it with search off or Approved Content Only. Do not wait for a Shorts Off switch that does not live inside YouTube Kids. Then park one compilation and let it end.

One parent flip. One shelf. One sit. That is quiet screen time you chose.

Open Family Center today. Switch Disable autoplay on. Hand Pip the quiet block — then put the device down when the arcs finish.
